Lobuche Peak Climbing is one of the best options among many peaks around the great Himalayan mountain range at the south Asian region because it offers both trekking and mountaineering opportunity on one trip. Being a Himalayan country, Nepal always has been choice among the mountaineers around the world. Eight out of ten tallest mountain around the world including highest peak of the world – Everest locate in Nepal, so Nepal is on every mountaineers’ bucket list. Every human on this planet want to reach the top of the world but physically very few of us can achieve the Everest summit. So, for all of us who can’t summit Everest, we have to settle on climbing the other peaks around Everest and one of them is Lobuche peak climbing. As, Lobuche peak climbing gives the opportunity to explore Everest from the closest without climbing Everest it is one of the best option for those who goes on expedition around Khumbu region.

Geographically Lobuche peak has two parts – Lobuche East and Lobuche West but Lobuche East is preferred to be summited by much climbers than Lobuche West. It is best to climb Lobuche Peak because it offers majestic views of several peaks such as Mt. Everest, Pumo Ri, Amadablam and Lhotse. Many peoples may have summited Lobuche peak on the past but officially Laurence Neilson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa were first to reach on top. They summited 6119m tall Lobuche peak on April 25, 1984 to book themselves on the history books for forever. It has snowy subsidiary summit at the south west also which is a false one but many climbers summit that too, so climbers have to avoid false summit while climbing the Lobuche East Peak.

In addition to the natural aspect, trekkers get lifetime opportunity to get enriched with ethnic Sherpa tradition all around the route. While trekking around the Khumbu region various Gompas, Monastries, Glaciers, rivers, Rhododendron forest never leaves you alone while you walk forward to your destination. Passing through side by side of traditional Everest trail and scenery of great Khumbu glacier makes your journey a lifetime experience. Since the trail is in function from the long-timed back there would be no problem of guidance and basic facilities for the climbers at any point.

Similarly visiting Palaces such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square increases your knowledge about historical aspect of small hilly country.

  • Day 3: Flight to Lukla (40 mins) then trek up to Phakding (3-4 hrs)

It is the day to begin your step towards the Lobuche. You have to take the domestic flight up to Lukla as early you can in the morning. The high altitude and cloudy atmosphere at lukla makes flights hard to land so the visibility of the sky must be sound to reach there on the prescribed time. But don’t worry if flight gets delayed because several flights are available as soon as weather gets clear. After landing at lukla, you start forward to walking through Cheplung and Ghat until you reach to Phakding for an overnight stay.

  • Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hr)

  • Day 5:    Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar (3420m)

Modern facilities at such a high altitude makes Namche Bazaar one of the best settlement around the Nepal for the tourists. Staying one more day at Namche bazaars re-energizes you with facilities such as Spa, Massage Center, Pool houses, Internet Cafes etcetera. Availability of several restaurants, ATMs, Money exchangers, Pharmacies helps you to fulfil your requirement for the remaining trip.

  • Day 6: Tyangboche from Namche Bazaar (5-6 hrs)

You can reach toward Tyangboche via Kyangjoma because they are shorter in distance but we suggest you to travel through Khumjung and Khunde because it is the most beautiful one to walk through although it is bit longer to walk pass by this route. With passing through the cold Himalayan breeze we reach towards Phunki Tenga before reaching Tyangboche. Tyangboche is famous for its historic Tyyangboche Gompa who caught accidental fire on 1989 and was destroyed but now have be renovated as it was before. You will be having dinner and the night stay at the Tyangboche for this night.

  • Day 7: Tyangboche to Dengboche (5-6 hrs)

After enjoying the sunrise at the Tyangboche, the journey restarts forward to reach Dengboche. Scenic view of high standing peaks such as Mt Amadablam, Everest and other peaks never hides from your sight while you cross through Pengboche. Then after crossing Shomare and Orsho you reach upto a small settlement called Pheriche (4240m). Many of trekkers opt to staying Pheriche for one more day but we assume that you will be walking until you reach Dengboche. Walking across beautiful rhododendron forest then you will reach Dengboche after passing Inja Khola.

  • Day 8: Dengboche to Lobuche trek (5-6 hrs)

Until this day, effect of the high altitude can been seen on many of the trekkers but proper management with the help of trained medical staffs decreases the chances of high altitude sickness. When you start your trek for this day, at first you will cross Phulaji Kala until you reach Dhugla (4620m). A group memorial of lost memorials of climbers and Sherpas can be seen when you cross the humongous Khumbu glaciers after walking through various Kharkas. Then you will reach toward the summer only settlement of Lobuche to take your ambition of this trek quite closer to completion.

After staying for a cold night at Lobuche you again start your goal with keeping beautiful sight of Pumo Ri peak along the way. You have to pass through Lobuche glacier on the way which is quite closer to Italian Research Center. As Lobuche High Camp is the highest point before the climb of Lobuche East, staying at here challenges you with its cold weather and the High altitude sickness problems. So accommodating yourself at this Camp examines the core strength of yourself towards your ambition for sure.

  • Day 10: Summiting Lobuche Peak and Returning Back (8-10 hrs)

Finally, the day has come for which you carry forwarded such a tough journey because it is a day to summit Lobuche East. It surely is the toughest day among all because reaching forward the altitude of 6119m is not easy at all. With the assistance of mountain Ning gears and equipment you will be guided towards summit by experienced Sherpa guides. Keeping Lobuche glacier at right you will climb hard towards top by using all the accessories carried up to now. Help of oxygen cylinders is a must to escape suffocation on such altitude and don’t hesitate to return back as early as possible after summiting to avoid any quick weather changes.

  • Day 11: Returning Tyangboche from Lobuche (8-9 hrs)

As you have accomplished everything what you wanted on this trip, from this day you will start returning back. You have to descend down via same route as you ascended from Tyangboche. You will cover the double distance you covered earlier because it is walking down instead of climbing up. You will again pass through Dengboche, Pheriche, Phunki Tenga, Khunde, Khumjung again until you reach Tyangboche again.

  • Day 12: Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hrs)

After staying at Tyangboche, it’s everyone’s day to enjoy the beautiful Namche Bazaar again. Starting early from Tengboche provides enough time to refresh yourself at Namche Bazaar after such a high demanding trip. Many of the trekkers, opt to stay one more day at here to enjoy more aspect of Namche Bazaar but we suggest that at least an overnight stay to re-energies yourself at Namche Bazaar.

  • Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (7-8 hrs)

Assuming you stay only for overnight at Namche Bazaar, this is the day when you again trek back to Lukla. You will ascend across Jorsale Benkar, Monjo, Phakding, Ghat and Cheplung until youn reach Lukla again. Reaching Lukla early provides you the opportunity to re-confirm your air ticket for Kathmandu so, we suggest you to start from Namche Bazaar at early as possible.  After reaching Lukla and finding the place to stay, go to Tenzing Hillary Airport and re-confirm your flight booking for Kathmandu tomorrow.
