Mera peak is a mountain located in the Mahalangur section, Barun Subsection of the Himalaya with the altitude of 6654m in the Sagarmatha zone of Nepal. Geographically, it is divided in three different sections Mera north, Mera central and Mera south. However, Mera north is denoted as true summit of Mera Peak which is barely climbed by trekkers and mountaineers. Among various climbing peaks in the Nepal, Mera peak is regarded as one of the highest, technical and adventurous climbing peaks.  Specular views of give high Himalayas peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Kanchenjunga are precisely visible from the summit of Mera peak. Although the Mera peak is challenging, enticing and thrilling trekking peak anyone who is longing to climb the peaks having the moderate Mountaineering experience can summit the Mera peak by following the basic normal skills to climb peaks. However, local Sherpa guide and trekking crew provides the basic idea and training skills before starting your actual trek journey. It is believed that the Mera peak was firstly explored by British expedition in early 50s.

There are various routes for Mera peak climbing however, the usual route is directly associated from the Zatra La pass. However, we will get our trek journey started from the route that heads southern part of Sagarmatha zone from lukla and will pass through the amazing Hinku Valley and retun via Zatra la Pass by which it covers main part of trek places during our trek periods.  Blend of various ethnic groups, their lifestyles, cultures adds divine beauty throughout the trek as well gives you the life time memories and inner peace. Besides, the route is little bit longer in comparison with others peaks climbing however acclimatization is needed during in middle of the trek by which it helps you to regain immune power and explore more scenic beauty and panoramic views of various peaks, landscapes, ridges, suspension bridges, lush forests full of rhododendron, glacial lakes and alpines all over your way to summit Mera Peak.

Experienced and professional climbing guides will train you and guide throughout your trek to explore the adventurous sceneries and hidden beauty which engulfed you to the track of Mera peak. The favorable trekking season is basically started in the month of March to July and September to November, as the skies becomes clear and views of mountains ranges can be seen closely.

Kathmandu is the city where you can enjoy your foods on western style at four starts hotels but as the trek journey start from the remote areas, traditional Nepali and Tibetan foods items are suggested. However, a cook specially chosen for your diets balance will serve you nutritious and energy giving meals. Similarly, Accommodation is also arranged as per the places we will be staying overnight. Tea houses, hotels, lodges are in the bucket list for your convenience during your trek period in Himalayan region.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

    One of our representatives will be at TIA holding your nameplate including office information to receive you. It will be easier for you to recognize. Once the greeting and welcomes program ended you will be escorted to the hotel where you will be staying at overnight.

  • Day 2: Sightseeing at Kathmandu and Gear Shopping

    At early morning you will be served a warm breakfast as per your desire in the hotel lane. After that, the trek guide throughout your trek journey will gives you a briefing about the trek information and essentials, gears needed during trek. Later, he will take you to major historical places of Kathmandu valley such as Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Kathmandu durbar square, Swyambhunath stupa. You can take a picture, buy souvenir during sightseeing. At evening, you can do gear shopping at Thamel, which is famous for tourist Hub. Overnight stay will be at hotel in the Kathmandu.

  • Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla(2840m/9318ft) and trek to Paiya(2730m/8956ft)

    You will be received by your driver and trek guide from hotel after the nutritious breakfast. Driver will drop all the trek members to domestic airport. A flight of 35 minutes will take you to Lukla Airport. Lukla airport is regarded as one of the thrilling and dangerous airports in the world as it lies on a high mountain plateau. Moreover, lukla is regarded as the main gateway to Everest.  The trek begins from there. Towards the south direction, there locate a Paiya. We take the way that descend down to Surkye and steep ascend to Chutok la where we have our lunch and after few moments there, a couple hours of trek trail brings you to reach Paiya. Overnight stay will be at Paiya.

  • Day 4: Trek from paiya to Panggom(2846m/9337ft)

    Trek hours: 6 to 7 hours

    This trail begins by crossing the several landscapes, terraces fields, lush jungles, cliffs and a small wooden bridge over the Paiya Khola. Beside this, we will take a steep ascend towards khari La, a mountain pass. Enrolling with natures inside the forest full of bamboo and rhododendron we will reach to the Sherpa community of Panggom. Amazing view of Dudh koshi valley on the way to Panggom can be seen and captured.  Overnight stay will be arranged at tea house of Panggom.

  • Day 5: Trek from Panggom to Ramilo Danda (3276m/10748ft)

    Trek hours: 5 to 6 hours

    A   nutritious breakfast at early morning and we will start our trail towards Ramilo danda via Ningsow by leaving the Panggom back. On the way we will across another mountain pass, Pankongma La(3174m). similarly, we will walk by analyzing the scenic beauty and to the point where we get to see separation of Dudh koshi River valley and Hinku Valley. Captivating views of mountain ranges like Manju Peak, Numbur Himal and Kongde adds additional joy to the trail. Our lunch will be at settlement of Ningsow. After the lunch, we will restart our trail to reach Ramilo Danda. Ramilo Danda is filled with meaning in its name.  Ramilo means happy, fun filled, enjoyable and Danda stands for hill in Nepali. We can see and enjoy the first view of Mera peak and several peaks from Ramilo Danda. Our overnight stay will be arranged at tea houses of Ramilo Danda.

  • Day 6: Trek from Ramilo Danda to Chhatra Khola (2800m/9186ft)

    Trek hours: 4 to 5 hours

    We will walk across the dense forest and Makalu Barun national park. During our trail today, we should carry snacks, lunch by ourselves as there are no teahouses en route. The National Park area is extended up to international border of Tibet. Wild inhabitants like red panda, snow leopard, musk deer, himalayn tahr, pale blue fly catcher etcetera can be seen while doing safari inside the park. Later, we will follow the Pasang Lamhu trail to reach Chahatra khola. This trek trail is named after the first Nepalese Female mountaineer to summit Mount Everest. Overnight stay will be at local guest house of Chhatra khola.

  • Day 7: Trek from Chhatra Khola to Kothe(3691m/12109ft)

    Trek hours: 6 to 7 hours

    The trail begins towards northern part of Majhang khola. Crossing this stream , we will head our direction to the bridge over Hinku Khola. By walking the ups and downs trails and landscapes we will reach to Kothe,  last point of today trail. Overnight stay will be at Kothe.

  • Day 8: Trek from Kothey to Thaknak(4358m/14297ft)

    Trek hours: 3 to 4 hours

    Leaving kothe behind we will start our trail onto the Upper Hinku valley. The trail gives you the several scenic beauty and mesmerizing views of Mera peak, Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku and Charpati Himal. Moreover, forest and various vegetation as well grazing camp of yak herders can be seen during the trail. Hours of continuous walking take you to the Gondishung, we will take a rest and have some snacks also we will visit to Lungsumgba Gompa, a Buddhist shrine which is believed to be 200 years old. Every trekker or mountainerss who pass that way burn incense or juniper and pray to god for their successful trek trail to Mera peak. From there we march our trail towards Thaknak. A couple of hours of walk take you to Thaknak where your accommodation is arranged.

  • Day 9: Trek from Thaknak to Khare(5045m/16486ft)

    Trek hours: 2 to 3 hours

    It is more like short walk to khare. It just take 2 to 3 hours to reach khare from Thaknak but the way is bit difficult. We have to climb up the Dig Glacier and decend through Charpati Tal to Dig Glacier and march our trail up to Dig kharka. Mesmerizing view of the Kyeshar glacier, Charpati Himal and Mera Peak can be enjoyed on the way. feeling the fresh air and incredible views we will reach to our destination Khare. At the bottom of the Mera Peak there lies a khare.  Khare is also known as Mera Base Camp. You can enjoy the mesmerizing view of Mera north from here. Our overnight stay will be at tea house of khare.

  • Day 10: Acclimatization Day

    On this day, you will be resting and can get a proper sound sleep once you receive pre- climbing training from your trek guide. The information and training is important and valuable so you have to listen and follow your guide words. A guide will teach you about basic techniques and skills needed to climb any peak. It is most important for Novice climber. All the equipment and gears will be checked for final time. After the short training class from your guide you can either rest all day or roam around with permission of guide. Overnight stay will be at khare.

  • Day 11: Trek from Khare to Mera high camp(5780m/18958ft)

    Trek hours: 5 to 6 hours

    The walk through rocky and rough path takes you to Mera la. Above from Mera la we will able to see a summit of Mera peak. They are Mera North(6476m), Mera Central(6461m) and Mera South(6065m). our destination is to reach the summit of Mera central. To extend our trail, we will step towards Mera glacier to Mera high camp. We will be walking above 5000m and each step of walk gives you the enticing and remarkable memories though it is one of the difficult and struggling trail. At above on Mera high Camp, a warm soup and drinks revives you. Taking the sip of hot drinks, you can get a view of five highest peaks in the world- Mount Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8485m and Cho Oyu(8188m) additionally incredible views of Baruntse (7129m), Gaurishanker (7134m) and Chamlang (7319m) can be seen from here. Our overnight stay will be at mera high camp on the tent house. You can do campfire too.

  • Day 12: Trek from Mera high Camp to Summit(6461m/211907ft) and back to Khare

    Trek hours: 10 to 12 hours

    This day is D-day. The day has finally come. No waiting to crave a beautiful and mesmerizing view of peaks from the elevation point of Mera Peak. The trek begins early morning. Climbing to Mera peak is amazing, and a true trekking peak. You can easily summit a Mera peak moreover, it is a non-technical hike on the uphill. Cold air breeze soothes you and revives you internally. The more you climb, the more you can explore the hidden beauty of Mera peak. However, last 40 to 50 meters to the summit is thrilling and challenging. Once you summit a Mera peak, you can get an incredible view of additional snowcapped mountains. The world highest mountain peak (Mt. Everest) and several mountains peaks above 8000 meters such as Kanchenjunga(8586m), Lhotse(8516m), Makalu(8481m) and Cho Oyu (8201m) can be explore from here. You can capture a moment in your diaries, mobile, camera and through other gadgets. Spending few times on summit, you have to make quick descent to Mera high Camp and later on to Khare. This day will be long trekking trail. So, once you reach to khare, you can be freshened up and rest on your room peacefully. The overnight stay will be at Khare.

  • Day 13: Contingency day for summit

    This day is optional day. In case of any emergencies, unforeseen events and weather condition our adventures can't be like itineraries. So, this day is put as reserved. If everything goes well as plan according to itineraries you can explore some valley and monuments during your trail or you can use this day once you reach to Kathmandu. You can do sightseeing in respect to this day as you reach to Kathmandu.

  • Day 14: Trek from Khare to Kothe(3600m/11808ft)

    Trek hours: 4 to 5 hours

    After having early breakfast, we will head toward Kothe by following forested path. As the trail is through the dense forest there is no any views. Shadows of bushes and trees can be seen everywhere till you descend your trail to Kothe. Overnight stay will be at best available teahouse or guest house of Kothe.

  • Day 15: Trek from Kothe to Thuli Kharka (4300m/14107ft)

    Trek hours: 6 to 7 hours

    A trail of today is engulfed on the western part of Hinku valley. We will find ourselves walking on the forested area where rhododendron, pines, alpines, bamboo gives you a mesmerizing feel. We will end our trail after we reach to Thuli Kharka. Thuli Kharka is mainly recognized as the summer camp, where most of the Yak herders and trekkers are resting all over in the camp, and tea houses. Our overnight stay will be at Thuli kharka.

  • Day 16: Trek from Thuli Kharka to Lukla(2840m/9318ft) via Zatraw La Pass(4600m/15092ft)

    Trek hours: 5 to 6 hours

    Today will be our last day to spend our time on the lap of Himalayas. On this day, we will mark up our trail towards a mountain pass named Zatraw la. The trail will be on rough road, as we steep ahead it will be more difficult. After a 2 to 3 hours of walk, we will reach to Zatraw la. From here we can see the incredible views of Numbur Himal, Dudh Kunda, Kongde, Khumbila, Hinku Valley and whole lukla village. We will also see the part of trail we walked earlier. You can do enjoy and celebrate the happiest moment by enrolling with Sherpa's cultural programs as you be successful to summit Mera peak. Overnight stay will be at Lukla.

  • Day 17: Fly from lukla to Kathmandu

    A 35 minutes of flight with a close view of several peaks will takes you to domestic airport of Kathmandu. Once you reached at domestic terminal, you will be escorted to the hotel. At evening, our management will give a warm farewell and a good arrangement of foods and accommodation is done for you. You can enjoy the night life of Kathmandu city too in the famous tourist hub " Thamel".
