The iconic Annapurna Circuit Trek, once celebrated as one of the longest trekking routes in Nepal, has evolved with the construction of roads reaching Chame. This development has opened the door to a shorter yet equally exhilarating version of the trek, which can now be completed in just 8 days.
At Peaceful Nepal Treks and Tours, we continuously strive to offer the most up-to-date and well-crafted itineraries for our clients. Recognizing the convenience brought by the new road connecting Lamjung’s Besi Sahar to Chame, we are delighted to present the 8-Day Annapurna Circuit Trek. This shorter route ensures you still experience the magic of Nepal’s diverse landscapes, stunning mountain views, and the thrill of crossing the legendary Thorong La Pass.
Traditionally, the Annapurna Circuit Trek spanned weeks, challenging adventurers to traverse a variety of terrains. However, with our updated itinerary and expert insights, you can enjoy the essence of this classic trek in a condensed timeframe. After a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chame via bus and shared jeep, your trekking journey begins.
This thoughtfully curated route takes you through enchanting Himalayan villages, including Pisang, Manang, Yak Kharka, and beyond. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views of peaks such as Tilicho, Manaslu, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Chulu East, and Chulu West.
The trek starts with a jeep ride to Chame, minimizing travel time while maximizing your time on the trail. Over the next few days, you’ll journey through the heart of the Annapurna region, staying in cozy teahouses and soaking in the wilderness of Nepal.
This condensed itinerary ensures you experience the adventure and grandeur of the Annapurna Circuit without compromising on its most iconic highlights.
In Kathmandu, you’ll stay in comfortable 3-star hotels, ensuring a relaxing start and end to your adventure. During the trek, accommodations will be in lodges or teahouses. At lower altitudes, these teahouses often offer a touch of comfort, with some even providing attached bathrooms. However, as you ascend to higher elevations, the teahouses become more basic, offering only the essential amenities. While the simplicity may remind you of the raw beauty of the mountains, the hospitality of the locals will make your stay warm and welcoming.
In Kathmandu, your hotel stay includes breakfast. Once you begin the trek, all meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are provided to keep you fueled throughout your journey.
The local cuisine of the Manang and Mustang regions is simple yet nourishing. You’ll savor dishes made from staples like potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, and Tibetan bread. Potatoes, introduced to the region in the early 90s, are a cornerstone of the diet, especially at higher altitudes. Expect a variety of hearty potato dishes, as they are rich in carbohydrates, providing the energy your body needs to tackle the challenges of high-altitude trekking.
For sightseeing in Kathmandu and airport transfers, we’ll arrange private cars to ensure your comfort. During the trek, you’ll experience the local lifestyle by traveling on public buses or shared transportation, giving you an authentic taste of Nepal’s everyday life.
This trek is a rewarding challenge, with daily walks of 6-7 hours through diverse terrain. While prior trekking experience isn’t mandatory, it’s definitely a bonus. We’ve seen trekkers from all walks of life, backgrounds, and fitness levels conquer this adventure.
The main challenge lies in coping with the altitude. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of fitness level, so it’s essential to listen to your body and take it slow. Before you leave for Nepal, consider preparing physically by building your stamina and improving your breathing capacity. Activities like cardio exercises, hiking, or brisk walking can make a world of difference. With the right mindset and preparation, you’ll find yourself thriving amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas.

Start your trek along the Marsyangdi River, passing through lush forests and charming villages. Cross Dukur Pokhari before reaching the picturesque village of Pisang. The trek takes around 6 hours, and you’ll enjoy a comfortable stay at a local lodge in Pisang.

Spend the day acclimatizing in Manang to prepare for higher altitudes. Choose between two exciting hikes:
After your hike, return to the same teahouse in Manang for a restful night.
Enjoy a relatively short and easy trek to Chauri Ledar, which takes about 3-4 hours. Once you arrive and settle in, have lunch and embark on a light acclimatization hike, ascending around 300 meters. This will help your body adjust to the altitude and ensure a good night’s sleep. Overnight at a teahouse in Chauri Ledar.
Another short trekking day awaits as you make your way to Thorong Phedi in about 3 hours. After lunch, consider hiking to Thorong High Camp for additional acclimatization and then returning to Thorong Phedi. Rest up and prepare for the thrilling Thorong La Pass crossing the next day. Overnight at a teahouse in Thorong Phedi.
Wake up early (around 3:00 AM) and fuel up with a hot drink before starting the most exciting and challenging day of the trek. Ascend to Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the trek and one of the world’s largest passes.
