Larke Peak Climbing is one of the most exciting and scenic mountain climbing experiences in Nepal, which is situated in the Manaslu region of Gorkha District. Having a height of 6,249 meters (20,502 feet), the Larke Peak is located near another well-known Larke La Pass (5,160m) – a high mountain pass that links the Manaslu Circuit Trail and the Annapurna area.
This 18-day trip is the ideal combination of joyful culture, scenic hiking as well and peak climbing. It traverses the lonely paths of the Manaslu Conservation Area, full of Buddhist-inspired villages, dense forests, and spectacular Himalayan scenery. The trip starts with Kathmandu to Machha Khola, trailed on the beautiful Budhi Gandaki River Valley, and slowly ascends via charming villages such as Jagat, Deng, Namrung, and Samagaun to the Larke Peak Base Camp.
Larke Peak is close to some of the most recognizable Nepal mountains – Manaslu (8,163m), Himlung Himal, Annapurna II, and Cheo Himal, which offer great panorama views from the top. The ascending part is on the moderate level, and it is recommended to all adventure seekers who have prior knowledge of trekking, but want to explore and enjoy both high-altitude trekking and climbing within the same trip.
Larke Peak Climbing (18 Days) adventure with professional guides, adequate acclimatization, and breathtaking alpine scenery ensures an unimaginable Himalayan adventure in one of Nepal’s most untouched and naturally beautiful areas.
The entire Larke Peak Climbing is full of scenic natural beauty and adventure. But here are some of the major attractions that you will love and make your trip more memorable.
Larke Peak provides an eye-catching sight view of the Himalayan giants around it. You will be looking over the great Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Ganesh Himal with amazing points of view. The views that the summit offers are truly breathtaking, and the journey to the summit is all worth it. It is like a dream place where even photos can hardly capture its beauty.

Larke Peak is frequently ascended as a part of the astonishing Manaslu Circuit trek. This implies that you get to enjoy what was one of the most diverse and rewarding routes in Nepal. The add-on summit of the peak on this already popular trekking route is one.
Compared to the popular climbing destinations such as Mera Peak, Island Peak (Imja Tse), and Lobuche East, climbers can find peaceful climbing routes in Larke Peak. Due to the small number of tourists, you can enjoy the breathtaking view without rushing and distractions.
On the route to the Larke Peak, you will pass through traditional villages rich in Buddhist culture and traditions. Staying at the local tea house while enjoying their warm hospitality and listening to their stories is full of fun. Also, visiting ancient monasteries and prayer flags adds beauty to your journey.
Larke Peak climbing is a combination of adventure and thrills. Reaching the summit from the base camp demands determination, endurance, and basic mountaineering skills. Reaching the summit gives you pride and inspires you to visit other destinations in the future.
The path you walk on the Larke Peak trek takes you to the lush green forest full of Rhododendron flowers, oak trees, gushing rivers, and across high alpine pastures. The change in scenery until you reach the top of the summit makes every day of the journey exciting and unique.
If we have to pinpoint the best time to conquer Larke Peak, then it is definitely during the Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). The good weather, safety, experience, and the finest view of breathtaking mountain views and landscape makes the Larke Peak climbing joyful in this season. Let’s find out what you can expect in each season so you can decide when to travel.
The supreme season and peak season for climbing the Larke Peak is during the month of Autumn. Autumn seasons are the balance of stable weather, excellent visibility, manageable temperatures, and safer snow conditions at high altitude. Without any obstruction, you can capture the breathtaking views not only of the surrounding landscapes but also of the distant horizons. Also, you can enjoy Nepali biggest festive season (Dashain and Tihar) which falls in this season.
Spring brings new life to the Himalayas and offers a fresh and different experience for Larke Peak climbers. The start of the flowering of wildflowers in high altitude and forest trails becomes colorful due to the colorful Rhododendron forest. Spring is best for those who prefer warmer temperatures and longer days, or wish to witness the unique floral beauty in the Manaslu region.
Avoid Larke Peak Climbing in the monsoon due to relentless rain, poor visibility, leeches, and insects. Also, due to heavy snowfall, increasing avalanche risk and making navigation and climbing extremely difficult and dangerous. Chances of flood and landslide are high in the season, which makes it difficult to reach your trekking destination.
Climbing in the winter is only for highly experienced mountain climbers. Climbing in winter is full of challenges such as brutal cold temperatures, trails covered with very deep snow, limited daylight hours, and logistical challenges. Average peak climbers and those who have zero knowledge of winter climbing should avoid this season.

Today's trek will be a little tougher than the previous one due to an uphill climb and rugged terrain. After breakfast in the tea house, we will start to walk through bamboo, rhododendron, and pine forests. Crossing several suspension bridges over the Budhi Gandaki River on the route, while crossing villages like Rana, Bihi, and Ghap, you will enjoy views of river gorges, waterfalls, and ancient mani walls.
During the ascent, the views of Mt. Manaslu becomes more impressive. After taking a break at the famous Flat Rock viewpoint with a rewarding view, you will push further to reach the Namrung village known for its monasteries and rich Buddhist culture. Tonight you will spend the night in Namrung tea house.
Today's hike will be moderate as you will walk for around 4-6 hours. The route of Narmung becomes impervious due to the blossoming of rhododendron flowers, beautiful alpine forests of fir, and oak. Also, with the gain in altitude, you can have a clear view of the beautiful landscape and mountains.

Samgaun is famous for the Birendra Lake hike to Manaslu Base Camp, which people visit during the Manaslu Circuit trek. So on today’s acclimatisation or rest day, we will visit either one of these places to enjoy the view for better mountain views.
Today's trek will be short, around 3 to 4 hours, on gentle and mostly flat terrain. For a few hours, you will walk through the Budhi Gandaki River, open pastures, and juniper-birch forests. Crossing many walls and crossing wooden bridges, you will see yaks grazing in the alpine meadows. Then, further walking for a few hours, you will reach Samdo village located near the Tibetan border. Tonight, you will stay at a tea house in Samdo.
Today will be another acclimatisation day in Samdo as the altitude will increase rapidly from tomorrow's trek. To deal with high altitude sickness, it is necessary to rest in this high altitude village. Today, we will either visit Samdo Ri or the Tibetan border for a short time and then return to the tea house for rest and proper sleep.
Today we will trek from Samdo to Dharamsala, which is also known as Larkya Phedi, and it will take around 4 to 5 hours. On your final hour of today's hike, you need to pass a steady uphill climb over rocky terrain. Then you will reach Dharamsala, which is the gateway to Larkya La Pass. There are only 2-3 tea houses here that offer very basic facilities. Tonight you will spend the night in the Dharamsala tea house.
Today, we will ascend to the Larke Peak Base Camp, one step closer to the Larke Peak summit. Even though today's trek will be short, it will be challenging due to high-altitude terrain. Leaving the tea house in Dharamsal with a packed lunch, we will start to walk through rocky moraines and grassy slopes. As you gain elevation, the landscape opens up to breathtaking panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Gyaji Kung, and even Annapurna II in the distance.
The strong wind and thin air make it challenging to walk, so walk slowly and carefully and monitor your health conditions all the time. Once you reach Larke Peak Base Camp, you’ll be rewarded with a close-up view of the magnificent Himalayan peaks surrounding you.
The Peaceful Nepal team will set up tents for our climbers. Also, our expert cook will prepare a warm, delicious dinner for you so that you can have enough energy for tomorrow's summit. You will spend your night in the tent today.
Finally, after so many days of struggle in the Manaslu region, it is time for you to reach the Larke Peak summit, which stands at an altitude of 6,249m. Today will be the toughest day of your entire trek as you will trek for around 8-9 hours.
With the excitement and happiness on our faces, we will start early in the morning, usually before dawn, to take advantage of calm weather and avoid the strong afternoon winds.
The trail to the summit is steep and icy, requiring the use of crampons, ropes, and climbing gear under the guidance of our experienced climbing Sherpa. As you ascend, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Annapurna II, and other surrounding peaks glowing in the morning light. Standing at the summit, making yourself proud, exploring, and taking enough pictures and video, we will return to base camp.
Now we will start to retrace from Larke Peak. Today we will trek for around 7 to 8 hours and even pass through the Larke La Pass (5,106m) — one of the highest mountain passes in Nepal. Once we reach Bimthang, we will take a rest, enjoy warm meals, and spend the night in a tea house.
After enjoying the peaceful morning in the Bhimtang and having breakfast, we will descend toward Gho village. Walking through lush pine and rhododendron forests, you will stop at Yak Kharka or Kharche for a short tea break. Then, finally, walking for around 5 to 6 hours, you’ll reach Gho, a small Gurung village, to spend the night.
Today will be the last day of your Trek in the Manaslu region. Walking for a few hours, you will reach Dharapani and take a private Jeep, which will be waiting for you to transfer to Kathmandu. The drive from Dharapni to Kathmandu will be around 10 hours.
Today you will return to your home country, or you can spend a few days in Kathmandu if you have time. Depending upon your flight schedule, we will transfer you to the airport.
